He earned his B.A. degree in Political Science from California State University, Northridge, and further pursued his education at Whittier College School of Law, where he obtained, his J.D. Bill was admitted to the California Bar in November of 1979, marking the beginning of his pioneering work in the legal realm.
Specializing in third-party reproductive law, Bill emerged as a trailblazer in the field of surrogacy, garnering international recognition for his contributions. His expertise in this evolving legal landscape led him to find the Center for Surrogate Parenting in 1986, an institution that stands today as the oldest surrogacy agency globally.
In 1985, Bill embarked on a parallel career in broadcasting, commencing with KABC Radio, and later joining KFI in 1989. His nationally syndicated show, “Handel on the Law,” has become a staple on over 280 radio stations nationwide, showcasing his wit, legal acumen, and depraved personality. Simultaneously, since 1993, Bill has hosted the morning drive show on KFI, consistently ranking as one of the top-rated programs in Southern California.
Bill Handel’s contributions to the broadcasting industry have earned him numerous awards, in both law and broadcasting including (among many):
